Laos resmî adı ile Laos Demokratik Halk Cumhuriyeti, denize kıyısı olmayan bir Güneydoğu Asya ülkesidir. Başkenti Vientiane'dir. Luang Prabang, Savannakhet ve Pakse diğer büyük şehirleridir. Laos, tek partili sosyalist bir cumhuriyet olarak yönetilir. Batıda Tayland ve Myanmar, doğuda Vietnam, kuzeyde Çin, güneyde Kamboçya tarafından çevrelenmiştir. Myanmar 235 km, Çin 423 km, Vietnam 2.130 km, Kamboçya 541 km ve Tayland'a 1.754 km sınırı vardır.
