Saray İsa'nın On İki Havârisi'nden biri olan Küçük Yakup'a adanmıştır. 1531 ve1536 yılları arasında kırmızı taş tuğla ağırlıklı malzemeler kullanılarak inşâ edilmiştir, büyük çoğunluk ile inşâ edildiği dönemin o bölgedeki baskın mimarî akımı olan Tudor Mimarîsi ile inşa edilmiştir. Saray kraliyet vârisinin ikâmetgahı olarak da hizmet vermiştir.
