Palembang, Endonezya'da Güney Sumatra ilinin yönetim merkezi.
Palembang, Hindu Şrivicaya İmparatorluğu'nun başkenti ve Palembang Sultanlığı'nın en önemli kentiydi. 1617'de Birleşik Doğu Hindistan Kumpanyası yörede bir ticaret merkezi kurdu ve bir kale yaptırdı.
II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında Japonların işgal ettiği kent, 1948-50 arasında Güney Sumatra özerk devletinin geçici başkenti oldu. 1950'de Endonezya Cumhuriyeti'ne bağlandı.
Kentin önemli yapıları arasında Büyük Cami (1740), sultan mezarları, belediye sarayı ve Sriwidcaca Devlet Üniversitesi sayılabilir.
