Veya resmî adıyla Gwangju Metropol Şehri, Güney Kore'nin metropol şehirlerinden biridir. 2005 yılında il merkezinin Muan ilçesine taşınana kadar Güney Jeolla ilinin merkezi konumundaydı. Şehrin nüfusu Ekim 2014 tarihi itibarı ile 1.477.780'dir. Şehir, 2015 Dünya Üniversite Oyunları'na ev sahipliği yaptı.
