Rus yazar, devrimci ve silahlı eylemcidir. SR partisinin savaş örgütü liderlerindendi. Rus İmparatorluğunda Çarlık rejimi yöneticilerine düzenlediği gösterişli suikastlerle bilinir. 1917 yılındaki Şubat Devriminden sonra Geçici Hükûmette Savaş Bakan Yardımcılığı yapmıştır. Ekim Devriminden sonra çıkan Rus İç Savaşı sırasında Bolşeviklere cephe almış ve 1920 yılında ülke dışına kaçmıştır. 1924 yılında ülkeye gizlice geri dönmeye çalışırken yakalanmış, hapiste öldürülmüş veya intihar etmiştir.
