8 Ağustos 1967'de Vietnam Savaşı'ndan kaynaklanan komünist genişlemeye karşı olarak Filipinler, Malezya, Tayland, Endonezya ve Singapur arasında kurulan uluslararası örgüt. 2005 yılında örgütün toplam gayri safi yurt içi hasılası yaklaşık 884 milyar dolardır. Yılda %4'lük bir büyüme oranı yakalanmıştır. 2006'da GSYH 1,066 trilyona yükselmiştir.
