Halk dilinde "the Met", dünyanın en büyük ve en önemli müzelerinden biridir. Manhattan, New York'taki Central Park'ın yanında yer alan müze, The Cloisters adı verilen Orta Çağ sanatını barındıran bölümü bünyesinde barındırır. Müzede eski doğu, Mısır, Yunan ve Roma dönemlerine ait eserler bulunmaktadır. Avrupa Orta Çağ koleksiyonunun bir bölümü ise Manhattan'ın kuzey ucundaki ek binada bulunur. Müze içerisinde bir araştırma kitaplığı, çocuklar için bir bölüm ve etkin bir eğitim sergisi vardır. Müzede batı resim sanatının öne çıkan isimlerine ait tablolar da bulunmaktadır. 2 milyondan fazla esere ev sahipliği yapmaktadır.
