Londra’nın ikonik simgesi olarak ün kazanan Big Ben, 96 metre yüksekliği ile dünyanın en uzun saat kulelerinden birisi olarak kabul edilmektedir.
Westminster Sarayı’nın en ünlü kulesi olarak ön plana çıkan kule, yaklaşık 13 tonluk devasa bir çana ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Üstelik dört tarafında bulunan saatin kadranları ise yaklaşık 7 metre uzunluğu ile dünyanın en büyüklerinden biri sayılmaktadır.
Agustus Pugin tarafından Neo-Gothic tarzda inşa edilen kulenin yapımına 1843 yılında başlanılmış ve 1859 yılında tamamlanmıştır. Üstelik tamamlandığı ilk yıllarda dünyanın en büyük saati unvanını kazanmıştır.
