İsrail'in güneyinde Necef Çölü'nün kenarında Ein Gedi ile Sodom arasında yer alır. Ölü Deniz'den 400 metre yukarıdadır. Masada'da inşa edilen kalelerden ilki Aleksander Yanay olduğu düşünülen Baş Rahip Jonathan tarafından inşa edildi.
