Viyana'daki Alsergrund ilçesinde bulunan Josephinum, 1783 ile 1785 yılları arasında mimar Isidor Marcellus Amandus Canevale tarafından inşa edilmiştir.
Josephinum fakirlere hizmet etmek amacı ile doktorların özellikle yara üzerine uzmanlaşmak isteyen doktorların eğitim göreceği bir akademi olarak kurulmuştur.
Bina 1822 ile 1849 yılları arasında bir ara başka amaçlar için kullanılmış ve 1954 yılına kadar da savaş alanlarında görev yapacak doktor yetiştirmiş olsa da daha sonra tekrar eski amacı için kullanılmaya başlanmıştır.
Josephinum günümüzde Viyana Üniversitesi’ne bağlı Tıp Tarihi Fakültesi olarak hizmet vermektedir.
