Long Beach, Kaliforniya'da dünyaya gelen Vince Staples, müziğe Odd Future tayfasından arkadaşlarıyla birlikte başladı. Earl Sweatshirt'ün ilk albümündeki «epaR», Mike G'nin «Moracular World» ve Domo Genesis'in «Elimination Chamber» gibi pek çok ortak işe imza attıktan sonra, 2011 yılı sonunda Shyne Coldchain Vol. 1 adlı ilk mixtape'ini internet üzerinden yayınladı.
