Sümer mitolojisine göre yeraltı ve şifa tanrısıdır. Enlil ve Ninlil'in ya da alternatif geleneklerde Ereşkigal ve Gugalana'nın oğluydu. Karısı genellikle Tanrıça Ninigirida ve oğlu ise Ningiszida olarak betimlenmiştir. Ninazu, Eşnunna'nın yeni koruyucu ilahı oluncaya kadar Eşnunna ve Enegi şehrinin koruyucu ilahıydı.
