1985'te Southall, Futbol Yazarları Derneği tarafından «Yılın Futbolcusu» seçildi. 1995 yılında İngiliz futboluna yaptığı hizmetlerden dolayı İngiliz İmparatorluğu Nişanı (MBE) ile ödüllendirildi.
