The Royal National Theatre is a publicly-funded performing arts venue located in the South Bank neighborhood of London, England. The theatre was founded by Laurence Olivier in 1963, and many well-known actors performed there. In 1988, the National Theatre was granted permission to use the title "Royal", but the full title was rarely used.
