  • Built in 1718, it was the first Baroque church in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), and still one of the most beautiful even today. As a Catholic church it has been housing masses for almost 3oo years, so Sunday morning is a sure time to find it open. The Piarist convent is a teaching monastic order which links it to the nearby Báthory István high school, where Piarist professors used to share their knowledge on a highest academic level, hence the often heard 'Academic Church' nickname.
