Sigismund's Column erects in the middle of the Castle Square and it is the oldest statue in Warsaw and one of the oldest in Europe. The Column was erected in 1644 on initiative of the king's son- Vladislaus IV. The statue is 22 metres high and consists of the granitic Corinthian column supported by the high pedestal with 4 eagles and brass monument of the monarch, placed on the top.
