The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest federal court in the United States, and it has final appellate jurisdiction over all cases which involve US federal law. It consists of a certain number (currently nine) justices who are nominated by the President of the United States and subject to confirmation by the United States Senate.
