The Million Pound Bank Note is a story about how Henry Adams lands up in London, penniless and famished. Subsequently, he is given a million pound note by two old gentlemen who have a £20,000 bet on him. Henry realizes the danger of his inexplicable posessession of the note while appearing as a pauper—eventually revealed as the subject of the bet—but his cunning instead lands him instant celebrity as the talk of the town.
