The Marine Aquarium is housed in a small building designed by Italian architects and completed in 1935. The aquarium building stands in a small park on the outskirts of the capital of Rhodes and is adjacent to the beautiful sandy beach of Elli. The Rhodes Aquarium is one of the most important marine research centres in Greece and includes also a small natural history museum.
