  • Built in the 15th century by Ivan III, the cathedral was dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The cathedral was also the site of the coronation of Catherine the Great and held numerous other important religious events and ceremonies. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1737 but was later rebuilt in its current form. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Moscow.
