The Historic Mill fits picturesquely into the park landscape of Sanssouci. After the original trestle windmill from 1738 had to be demolished due to its poor condition and replaced by a windmill of Dutch design, the facility was destroyed during World War II. Since 1993, the blades of the historic mill have been turning again, visible from afar.
