The church is in a peaceful setting on the edge of the village, above the water meadows of the River Cuckmere. Dating from about 1150, the church was extended in the 14th century and some restoration was done in the late 19th century. It is built of flint with stone facings and has a weather-boarded tower topped by a broach spire covered with cedar shingles.
