Caves Santa Marta was formed in 1959 as an association of several dozen small producers of the Douro Valley. Today the cooperative unites more than two thousand farms and makes its wines from selected grapes harvested from an area of more than 2,000 hectares. The company produces more than 13 million liters of wine, which is approximately one tenth of the total production of DO Douro wines.
