Brandenburg Gate, German Brandenburger Tor, the only remaining town gate of Berlin, Germany, standing at the western end of the avenue Unter den Linden. It has served as a symbol of both the division of Germany and the country’s reunification and is one of Berlin’s most-visited landmarks. The gate was commissioned by Frederick William II as an entrance to Unter den Linden, which led to the Prussian palace.
