Giverny is a village on the banks of the Seine River in the Normandy region of France, about 40 miles northeast of Paris. It is best known as the place where Impressionist painter Claude Monet had his longtime home, gardens, and studio. Perhaps more importantly, Monet memorialized Giverny in numerous paintings, making it known to people all over the world. Most famous of all is Monet’s artificial pond.
