Meksika'nın Michoacán eyaletinin başkentidir. Şehir, Michoacán eyaletinin orta kuzey kısmında yer almaktadır. Yüzölçümü 78 km² olan şehrin nüfusu 2010 yılı itibarı ile 729.757'dir. Şehir adını Meksika Bağımsızlık Savaşı önderlerinden biri olan José María Morelos'tan almaktadır.
