Eski adı Güney Rodezya olan ülkenin sınır komşularını Zambiya, Mozambik, Güney Afrika Cumhuriyeti ve Botsvana oluşturmaktadır. Ülkenin Namibya ile olası 100 m uzunluğundaki sınırı tartışmalıdır. Ülkenin başkenti Harare'dir.
