The Gediminas Monument is near Palace of Grand Dukes, in Cathedral Square/Bell Tower. The male figure of this imposing statue atop a pedestal is of Gediminas (1275–1341), Grand Duke of Lithuania until his death in 1341. He created the Grand Duke political entity and expanded its territory, which ranged from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.
