Republic of Kazakhstan is a sovereign independent state. It is situated in the centre of the Eurasian continent. The official language is Kazakh. More than 15 million people of over one hundred nationalities and ethnic groups live in the republic. The total area is 2.7 mln. square km. Kazakhstan borders on Russia in the North, China in the East, Kyrgyzia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the South, and the Caspian Sea in the West.
