• Savagnin Blanc (not to be confused with Sauvignon Blanc) is an ancient white wine grape from the sub-alpine regions of eastern France.
  • This is Vin Jaune (Yellow Wine) from the Jura (near the Swiss border in France). It is made in a dry, oxidative style utilizing late harvested Savagnin grapes.

  • Savagnin : Savagnin B (also called nature) is a grape white from the Tramin region in the Austrian Tyrol is the cousin of the Alsatian traminer (*).
  • During this slow process, the yeast dies, breaks down, and thus participates in the olfactory and sensory complexity and diversity of distinctive Savagnin.
  • In the Jura region, where Savagnin is most typical, it seems to grow best on grey marl soils and ripens slowly.
  • Savagnin is a member of Traminer family and, unlike the other forms with aromatic and/or reddish berries, it is both non-aromatic and has white fruit.
