Even though Olympia was plundered several times in antiquity, plenty of important artifacts remained for archaeologists to unearth. Excavations started in 1875 and continue to our day. The Museum at Olympia shelters and exhibits the most striking of these finds from the Bronze Age, all the way to Roman and Byzantine times.
