The monument in honor of Empress Catherine II in Krasnodar was opened in 1907, destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1920 and restored in 2006. It is located opposite the Legislative Assembly of the Territory. The new monument was created by the famous Kuban sculptor, member of the Union of Artists of Russia Alexander Apollonov, who used photographs of the bronze model of the monument, archival documents and drawings in his work.
