The Church of St Catherine was founded in 1618 by Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, the Hetman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Voivode of Vilnius. It is the first church in Vilnius to be fully renovated during the independence period and has become one of the city's great symbols. Built between 1625 and 1743, the church boasts a late Baroque style with splendid Rococo decorations.
