The Palace of Versailles built in 1712 in Paris was the official residence of the French monarchy during the 17th and 18th centuries. The French Revolution forced the Monarchs out of the Palace and was later given to the city of Paris. In 1837, The Palace of Versailles became a Museum of History of France by orders of King Louis-Philippe, who came to the throne in 1830.
