Palatine Hill rises to 51 metres above sea level at its highest extent. In relation to the surrounding city, it’s at least 40 metres above the nearest major landmarks, such as the Roman Forum. Palatine Hill is the tallest of Rome’s legendary seven hills. These are the hills that the ancient city was founded upon and around, and ancient city walls would encompass all of these hills.
