- Lev Ivanovich Yashin was born in 1929 and due to his height was called ‘Eiffel Tower’ by classmates when he first went to school, aged seven.
- His mom worked at the Krasny Bogatyr plant (Shoe factory), his dad worked at the aircraft factory in Tushino. The area which Lev Yashin spent his childhood.
- In addition to football and hockey, Lev Yashin also played many other sports such as fencing, basketball, boxing, tennis and water polo.

- In 1963 he was recognized as the best footballer in Europe, Lev Yashin's biography was supplemented with another award - he was awarded the "Golden Ball".
- Well-known hockey player Vladimir Yurzinov recalled how in the fall of 1970, he happened to watch a two-hour training session for Dynamo players.
