Édouard Manet (23 Ocak 1832 — 30 Nisan 1883), 19. yüzyılda modern hayatı konu alan resimler yapmaya başlamış ilk ressamlardandır.
Manet, gerçekçilik akımından izlenimciliğe geçişte önemli bir rol oynadı. İlk dönem başyapıtlarından Kırda Öğle Yemeği ve Olympia, kendisinden genç ressamlara esin kaynağı oldu. Daha sonraki yıllarda ise o ressamlar izlenimciliğin en önemli isimleri oldular. Günümüzde, bu iki resim, modern sanatın başlangıcı kabul edilir.
