Ruth Fulton Benedict (5 Haziran 1887 - 17 Eylül 1948), Amerikalı antropolog ve halkbilimci.
New York'ta dünyaya gelmiş olan Benedict 1909'da Vassar College'dan mezun olmuş ve doktora çalışmaları için 1921'de Columbia Üniversitesi'ne girmiştir. Burada Franz Boas'ın öğrencilerinden biri olan Benedict Margaret Mead ve Marvin Opler'le de çalışma şansı bulmuştur.
Çağdaş antropolojinin kurucularından biri olarak kabul edilen Benedict yaptığı çalışmalarda kişilik, sanat, dil ve kültür konularına odaklanmış; kültürel değerlerin dışa kapalı bir ortamda gelişmesinin olanaksız olduğunu savunmuştur.
