Nisan 2002'de İrlanda'da kariyer başlangıcı yapan Sheamus bir maçta geçirdiği sakatlık nedeniyle güreş kariyerine 2 yıl ara vermiş ve Mayıs 2004'te Sheamus O'Shaunessy adıyla Irish Whip Wrestling'de güreşmeye başlamıştır. Irish Whip Wrestling'de 3 kez ana kemeri kazanmayı başarmıştır.
