Tears for Fears, 1981'de Bath'ta Curt Smith ve Roland Orzabal tarafından kurulan bir İngiliz pop rock grubudur.
Moddan etkilenen ilk grupları olan Graduate'ın dağılmasından sonra kurulan Tears for Fears, 1980'lerin new wave synthesizer gruplarıyla ilişkilendirildi ve Second British Invasion'ın bir parçası olarak uluslararası liste başarısı elde etti.
Grubun ilk albümü The Hurting (1983), İngiltere Albüm Listesi'nde bir numaraya ulaştı ve ilk üç hit single'ı — «Mad World», «Change» ve «Pale Shelter» — hepsi UK Singles Chart'ta ilk beşe ulaştı.
