"Dieselpunk" adı, 1980'lerin bilimkurgu türü siberpunk'un bir türevidir ve I. Dünya Savaşı'ndan 1950'lere kadar dizel tabanlı hareketliliğin Batı kültürünün ana teknolojik odak noktası olduğu süreyi temsil eder.
