Alabama's State Capitol, in Montgomery, Montgomery County, was constructed in the Greek Revival style in 1851 on the foundations of the previous capitol, which burned in 1849. The capitol is also a working museum and several areas of the building are open to the public, including the old Senate chamber, which is restored to its Civil War-era appearance.
