Robert (Bob) Kahn, TCP / IP protokollerinin ortak mucidi ve DARPA'nın İnternet Programı'nın oluşturulmasından sorumlu kişidir.
Kahn, ARPNET'i, insanlara ilk kez Uluslararası Bilgisayar İletişim Konferansı'nda 20 farklı bilgisayarı birbirine bağlayarak gösterdi.
Aralık 1997'de Başkan Bill Clinton, Kahn ve meslektaşı Vinton Cerf'e Internetin kuruluşu ve geliştirilmesi sonucu ABD Ulusal Teknoloji Madalyasını takdim etti.
