  • Founded 800 years ago, along with the town of Chelmsford on the site of the present Cathedral was the church of St Mary the Virgin rebuilt in the 15th and early 16th centuries becoming a Cathedral in 1914. In 1954 its dedication was extended to include St Peter and St Cedd. The Cathedral has two organs one in the nave, installed in 1994 and one in the chancel, while the Cathedral tower houses a beautiful ring of 13 bells’.
