Dechencholing Palace Thimphu has a lot of history in Bhutan, as it was constructed in 1953 after the crowning of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The palace witnessed the birth of some essential royal personalities, like the fourth king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, in 1955. It was used for public enthronement rituals in 1974 and has hosted many international delegations.
