Florynce Kennedy - Flo to friend and enemy alike - who has died aged 84, was once called "the biggest, loudest and, indisputably the rudest, mouth on the battleground where feminist- activists and radical politics join in mostly common cause". Born in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the second of five daughters of Wiley and Zella Kennedy, who were part of the "pooristocrats" of the black community and taught their children to stand up for themselves.
