The House of Soviets is considered to be one of the most notable examples of constructivism in the architecture of Nizhny Novgorod. The layout of the building is reminiscent of the shape of an airplane with a semi-circular cockpit, a tail, and two asymmetrical wings. It was designed by a young architect Alexander Grinberg in the 1930s and was erected on the site of the former Spaso-Preobrazhensky (Transfiguration) Cathedral.
