John Maxwell Coetzee (d. 9 Şubat 1940), Güney Afrikalı-Avustralyalı romancı, deneme yazarı, dilbilimci, çevirmen ve 2003 Nobel Edebiyat Ödülü sahibidir.
İngilizce dilinde en çok eleştirmenlerce beğenilen ve dekore edilmiş yazarlardan biridir. Booker Ödülü (iki kez), CNA Ödülü (üç kez), Kudüs Ödülü, Prix Femina étranger ve Irish Times Uluslararası Kurgu Ödülü'nü kazandı ve bir dizi başka ödül ve onursal doktora derecesine sahip oldu.
Coetzee 2002 yılında Avustralya'ya taşındı ve 2006 yılında Avustralya vatandaşı oldu. Adelaide'de yaşıyor.
