The Fire Station that houses the museum was opened in May 1903, 10 months after the great Jacksonville fire that destroyed most of downtown and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is home to a fully restored 1902 horse drawn fire engine, a 1926 fire engine and hundreds pieces of fire fighting equipment, artifacts and memorabilia.
