Lamassu, normalde insan, kuş ve sığır ya da aslan unsurlarının bir karışımıyla tasvir edilen bir Assur koruyucu tanrısıdır.
Çoğu lamassu insana benzer bir baş, boğa ya da aslanı andıran bir vücut ve kuş gibi kanatlarla gösterilir.
Assur heykeltıraşlığında genellikle saray girişlerine yerleştirilmiş, hem sokağa hem de iç avlulara bakan lamassu çiftleri bulunurdu.
